| If small component parts must be cleaned, it is best to disassemble and soak in a 100% solution of 5602 cleaner. (Always use polyethylene plastic or steel containers for soaking.) Normally an overnight soak will dissolve most deposits or sufficiently soften them for easy removal.
If the entire grouting system must be cleaned, the following procedure should be followed:
Remove small pump parts and clean separately. Flush grout from system with AV-208. Continue pumping until solvent is running clear. Do not reuse solvent. Dispose of solvent as a hazardous waste according to local regulations.
Follow with 5602 cleaner. Allow at least 60 minutes dwell time for cleaning action to take place. A longer cleaning time may be necessary if grout is fully cured (overnight soak for sever conditions).
After the soak period, recirculate cleaner by placing the grout hose in the pail and allow the pump to recirculate cleaner for at least 15 minutes. Do not reuse cleaner. Dispose of cleaner as a hazardous waste according to local regulations.
Flush again with AV-208 and continue pumping until clean. Remove suction tube from solvent and cycle pump until all solvent has been cleared from the grout line.
Although AV-208 is preferred, AV-105 may be used. Extinguish all sources of ignition in the area and observe proper precautionary measures for handling such materials. |
