AV-222 Cleaner should only be used to remove gelled or fully cured polyurethane resin. Most day-to-day cleanup and purging can be accomplished with acetone. If small component parts must be cleaned, it is best to disassemble and soak in a 100% solution. (Always use polyethylene, plastic, or steel containers for soaking.) Normally, an overnight soak will dissolve most deposits or sufficiently soften them for easy removal.

If the entire injection system must be cleaned, the following general procedure may be followed:
Remove mix block, injection gun and hose end fittings and clean separately; disassemble if necessary. Flush resin from system with acetone (technical grade). Continue pumping until solvent is running clear. Dispose of solvent and do not reuse.
Follow with enough AV-222 Cleaner to fill the entire system. Allow at least a 60-minute dwell time fore cleaning action to take place. A longer cleaning time may be necessary if polyurethane resin is fully cured. Soak overnight for severe conditions.
After the soak period, recirculate the cleaner by placing the discharge hose in the pail and allowing the pump to recirculate the cleaner for at least 15 minutes. Dispose of cleaner and do not reuse. Flush again with fresh solvent as above and continue pumping until clean. Remove suction tube from solvent and cycle pump until all solvent has been cleared from the system.

Product should be used only in well ventilated areas in order to keep the vapor concentration low. A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn in confined spaces where there is little ventilation and vapors are likely to be high.
Since this material is caustic, suitable eye and skin protection must be provided. Industrial gloves, such as International Platex Corporation, Dover, Delaware #835 Industrial Glove have been found satisfactory. Eye protection can be accomplished by safety glasses, coverall type glasses, chemical goggles or face shields.

Immediately flush eyes with water for 15 minutes. Get immediate medical attention.
Wash affected area with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing.
Remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, get medical attention.
Drink 2 glasses of water. Call a physician
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsing person.
